Ja..............zu den klassischen Monumenten gehört ganz klar der Triumphbogen. Im antiken Rom baute man ihn als Ehrenmal für triumphale Siegeszüge großer römischer Kaiser oder Feldherren - ein deutliches architektonisches Symbol der Macht. Der älteste erhaltene Triumphbogen ist der Titusbogen in Rom, gestiftet im Jahre 70. Dagegen ist der Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile in Paris noch fast ein Neubau! Napoleon ließ es sich 1806 nach der Schlacht von Austerlitz nicht nehmen, sich und seinen Taten ebenfalls ein unübersehbares Ehrenmal im Stil der alten Römer aufzustellen. Ironie des Schicksals, dass er die Fertigstellung selbst nicht mehr erlebte.... Ja..............the triumphal arch is of course one of the classic monuments. Nein..............der Arc de Triomphe ist nicht der einzige Triumphbogen in Paris, also Vorsicht! Nicht, dass es zu Verwechslungen kommt! Das hier ist der Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel vis-à-vis vom Louvre... No..............Arc de Triomphe isn't the only triumphal arch of Paris, so pay attention to not mix them up!

und der grösste (und neueste und scheusslichste) Bogen ist die Arche de la Défense, und bildet eine Achse mit dem Arc de Triomphe und dem Caroussel du Louvre… so das waren meine angeberischen fünf Minuten. Ich mag den Blick vom Arc de Triomphe, also dem auf der Place de l'Etoile, übrigens sehr (und ich fürchte, im Führer ist er nicht, da der thematisch/historisch unterteilt ist…) Liebe Grüsse, auch von Augustine!
AntwortenLöschenAuf dem gruseligen Défense-Bogen war ich vor vielen Jahren auch schon mal und wäre auf der Fahrt in dieser gläsernen Aufzugkapsel fast gestorben vor Höhenangst! Konnte mich an die Ausstellung oben drin später gar nicht mehr erinnern, weil man wusste, man muss mit dem Ding auch wieder runter! ;o)
