Ja..............dies war eine Aufgabe meines Architekturfotografie-Seminars: "Vorher / Nachher - Nehme eine historische Aufnahme aus Deiner Stadt und versuche, das Motiv so genau wie möglich nachzufotografieren". Nein...........zum Glück oder durch Zufall scheint hier der Unterschied gar nicht sehr groß zu sein, mal abgesehen von der 4-spurigen Hauptstraße, die nun vor dem Ponttor (eins der beiden noch erhaltenen von ehemals 11 Aachener Stadttoren, Anfang 14.Jhd) verläuft und den Fotograf heute daran hindern, das Tor aus bestimmten Perspektiven zu fotografieren.
Vielleicht....trotzdem fast ein Wunder, dass man solch ein ähnliches Ergebnis erzielt, wenn man bedenkt, dass Aachen im Zweiten Weltkrieg stark beschädigt wurde, allein 65% des Wohnraums wurde damals zerstört, was man noch heute im Stadtzentrum sehr leicht an der Architektur ablesen kann.

Yes............that was a task of my architectural photography course: "before / after: find a historical picture of your town and try to take a photo of exactly the same spot".
No.............luckily or incidentally the difference here seems to be marginal, disregarding the 4-lane main street, that now runs in front of the Ponttor (one of the two still existing of formerly 11 town gates of Aachen, beginning of 14th century) and keeps the photographer from taking photos of certain perspectives.
Maybe.........anyhow it's quite remarkable to achieve such a similarity, considering the fact that Aachen was heavily damaged during the 2nd World War, very 65% of living space was destroyed, which can still easily be read off the architecture in the city centre even nowadays.

Früher war wohl in der Platzmitte (vorne rechts) noch ein Rondell mit Zaun, gell. Wirklich fast ein Wunder, dass es noch fast genauso aussieht.

Da hast Du aber ziemlich genau hingekriegt (unter Lebensgefahr?) Ich mag solche früher-heute Fotovergleiche sehr. Und hier in Paris gibt's doch noch so manche Ecke, die schon ganz schön lange gleich aussieht (unter der Bedingung, dass man die jährlich wachsenden Horden parkender Autos ignoriert). Liebe Grüsse!
